The model:  This boat was originally a model of the Hallmark Homes that Jeff Campbell wrecked and shelved.  Pete was looking for a project boat that was to be for a museum member that was looking for a gift for Billy Schumacher.  Pete got the boat, repaired the damage, converted it into the Bardahl and the buyer decided he didn't need it after all.  Pete decided to gear it up with an Astro 25 for testing as his #2 race boat.  The boat ended up at the bottom of Lake Washington after a blowover in testing due to lack of sufficient floatation.  With the help of the Renton Firefighters dive team, the boat was rescued and restoration was completed.  When his #1 raceboat, Etta, suffered persistant handling problems, Pete decided to bring the Bardahl back as his #1 boat just before the Freedom Cup.

The real boat:  The famed National Champion Checkerboard Comet that ran it's way to fame in 1968 driven by Billy "the kid" Schumacher and owned by Ole Bardahl.
